Hey, let’s get rid of the Electoral College

Sounds like a good idea, Senator Nelson.

“Its time for Congress to really give Americans the power of one person, one vote,” Nelson said in a statement.

Because their votes don’t count now.

To the American Idol crowd, the typical Obama foreign policy stump speech might sound appealing.

To others, the same speech might sound terribly naive and immature.

To those appreciative to the nuances of political theatre, the same speech sounds like a press release from Socialist International.

Obama’s stance on foreign policy is not naive or immature, it’s socialistThis is what socialists sound like. He’s not urging for more solidarity between the leadership of our nations.  He’s calling for enhancing the prospects of the Socialist International.  And he’s charging dumb Americans 20 bucks a pop to be part of it.  One hell of a campaign strategy.

No dialog between the US and these iddy biddy countries?  Even his own political machine has its own Congressional backchannel to talk with them (and their terror-loving proxies!).  For what reason?  To lend support to the opposition of the Colombian Free Trade deal. . . . an assistance welcomed by various regional socialist congresses. . . . Very nice indeed.

So, yeah, let’s have the that dialog, if only to covertly undermine US foreign policy.

If Obama can see farther than other men, it is because he stands on the shoulders of so many little commies.

(updated title–I couldn’t resist)

The politics of meaning. The politics of change. Speaking truth to power. The power of hope. Inspire hope.

Here, hope is displayed on the office wall, next to the picture of Obama (about 16 secs into the clip).

Agreeing with Krugman?

Only for a split second, though, on the Cult of Obama:

I won’t try for fake evenhandedness here: most of the venom I see is coming from supporters of Mr. Obama, who want their hero or nobody. I’m not the first to point out that the Obama campaign seems dangerously close to becoming a cult of personality.

Ok, it must be so obvious that even Krugman concedes it.  But there’s more:

We’ve already had that from the Bush administration — remember Operation Flight Suit? We really don’t want to go there again.

. .<groan>. Well, it was brief, but I should have predicted that.  Was Krugman referring to the “Mission Accomplished” episode, where Bush-haters lent massive inertia to a crudely juxtaposed misrepresentation of Bush’s flight deck speech?   Or is he insinuating that there is a Bush equivalent to the Obama cult?

Hoping to appeal to progressives, liberals, socialists, and whole-grained fascists across America, Hillary Clinton suggests that she would be open to the idea of garnishing the wages of American workers who refuse to buy mandated health insurance

The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC’s “This Week,” she said: “I think there are a number of mechanisms” that are possible, including “going after people’s wages, automatic enrollment.”

Clinton said such measures would apply only to workers who can afford health coverage but refuse to buy it, which puts undue pressure on hospitals and emergency rooms. With her proposals for subsidies, she said, “it will be affordable for everyone.”

This is beyond insane.  Have at it, you Marxist ass-hats.

Americans want “change” at any cost. . .

January 31st, 2008

. . .which really is an immature reason to vote.  Do Americans really know anything about government and oversized bureaucracy?

Do Americans honestly believe that the Obama™ brand will impart real change in Washington when the apparatus controlling his every appearance and scripting his every word already controls most of the (supposedly) despised Washington establishment?  Whether it’s Obama, Clinton, or even McCain, it’s  “Honey, which color scarf should our little Establishment wear today?”

So yeah, let’s vote for “Change”.

“The problem is that Sen. Obama wants us to transcend something at the same time he implicitly asks us to give that same something as a reason to vote for him. I must say that the lyricism with which he does this has double and triple the charm of Mrs. Clinton’s heavily-scripted trudge through the landscape, but the irony is still the same.”
