I made it through 3 tonight. It was a nice cordial debate. All things considered, I think Biden won overall. He was working with a more detailed set of notes and put the neophyte in a corner, which is exactly what I thought about McCain’s debate with Obama. I don’t think Palin lost it like she *could* have, but I do think she firmed up the support from most of the people she may have lost in a bad media week. There will be lots of people spinning for her. They would be correct that, out of the 4 principals, she is the only true outsider.
But he spoke in Senate-speak. Billion here, billion there. WTF? He spoke almost a dozen clear fibs. And apparently his townfolk in Wilmington, DE have been getting screwed for the better part of 36 years. What the fuck has he done for these poor wretches this whole time?
Palin stuck with the talking points, fer sure. And she changed the subject at least twice. But why is this a problem all of a sudden?

She successfully pushed the talking points and landed a few good shots. Depending on the financial news, I think McCain will get a little bump in the polls. Biden was boring at times but displayed command of the issues and scored some bonus points with appeals to emotion. I don’t understand why neither campaign is tapping into the frustration on Main Street over the bailout. There is serious potential there.
Was it my imagination or was last night’s format less of a debate and more of an opportunity for each to state their opinion on the subjects w/ very little retort? Seems almost silly to call that a debate. Last Friday wasn’t much better, but it seemed a little more like an actual debate.
