Provo’s own Dunder-Mifflin

February 29, 2008

Provo, Utah (you seen pictures) company deploys a whole slew of “motivational” techniques in order to improve employee productivity.

Insert your own tired cliches here:  The beatings will continue until morale improves, etc.

“No enemies on the left”

February 27, 2008

From NYP via Glenn,

Why was Sen. Trent Lott’s kindness to former segregationist Sen. Strom Thurmond a scandal but Obama’s acquaintance with an unrepentant terrorist a triviality?

That’s because you are the inevitability you’ve been waiting for, and the past means nothing to you.

Murdoch - Clinton “truce” becomes more clear

February 26, 2008

Back in 2006, conservative types were aghast at the notion of Hillary Clinton finding the softer side of Rupert Murdoch. Rightist icon Murdoch hosting a fundraiser for HRC? Preposterous!

NewsCorp gallops to the rescue of a floundering Clinton campaign.

Finally revealed: Viking women’s dress code

February 26, 2008

Up until now only a matter of speculation in the minds of young men–Viking women dressed provocatively to please their war-loving menses.

This pleases me immensely for some reason.

Finding missing soldiers

Pentagon works with China to find the soldiers missing from last century’s conflicts.

Burmese confuse Stallone with Steven Seagal

February 22, 2008

Way off here (it is Friday)”

Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo character looks like a fat lunatic in his new movie, a Myanmar magazine said this week, bucking local public opinion that has glorified him for his exploits fighting the ruling juntas unpopular soldiers. . .

But an article in The Voice, a Myanmar-language magazine, decried Rambo’s bloodletting and said he “looks funny fighting a war even though he’s so fat with sagging breasts.

I think it’s abundantly clear they’re confusing Stallone with somebody else.

Castro News Network

Or, how to coach CNN’s cub reporters on how to portray Castro’s recent announcement.

(hint: be nice to him!  He’s a hero to a lot of dimwits people)

Obsession analyzed–and discarded

From Dahlia Lithwick on her fleeting infatuation with Obama:

As for me, well, I just cant be comfortable liking you now that liking you is like liking an iPhone.

Barack Obama - The New Coke?

If Obama can see farther than other men, it is because he stands on the shoulders of so many little commies.

(updated title–I couldn’t resist)

The politics of meaning. The politics of change. Speaking truth to power. The power of hope. Inspire hope.

Here, hope is displayed on the office wall, next to the picture of Obama (about 16 secs into the clip).

Agreeing with Krugman?

February 11, 2008

Only for a split second, though, on the Cult of Obama:

I won’t try for fake evenhandedness here: most of the venom I see is coming from supporters of Mr. Obama, who want their hero or nobody. I’m not the first to point out that the Obama campaign seems dangerously close to becoming a cult of personality.

Ok, it must be so obvious that even Krugman concedes it.  But there’s more:

We’ve already had that from the Bush administration — remember Operation Flight Suit? We really don’t want to go there again.

. .<groan>. Well, it was brief, but I should have predicted that.  Was Krugman referring to the “Mission Accomplished” episode, where Bush-haters lent massive inertia to a crudely juxtaposed misrepresentation of Bush’s flight deck speech?   Or is he insinuating that there is a Bush equivalent to the Obama cult?

An endorsement that counts

February 10, 2008

Enough with the stupid celebrity endorsements.  They are meaningless. Only one matters–

Who stands with Wolf?

Global warming isn’t just some bumpersticker slogan. It’s real, and you’d better pay attention lest you get imprisoned by elite technocrats.

Tapper comes along

February 7, 2008

When there’s nothing around but (strange) overenthusiasm, that might be an indication that there’s not a whole lot there.  Even some of the left feels a little weirded out.  Things are getting a little Chavista on the campaign trail.

Witness how manufactured zeitgeist can compensate for a complete lack of substance.

Finally: Pearl Jam’s ode to Obama

How delightful.

Possible site updates

February 4, 2008

I may bring the site down soon to make some changes to the theme. . . Not sure what I will do yet, but I might change the overall look of the site.  Because, you know, a fresh face is all that’s needed to address fundamental problems of our governme. . .I mean, website.

It became a cult

Consider this the point at which reverent adoration became sick idolatry.

F1 runner-up Lewis Hamilton reportedly subjected to racial taunts in Spain during race test

MADRID, Spain — British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton suffered racist abuse from Spanish fans during testing at the Montmelo circuit in Barcelona, Spanish media reported on Sunday.

During Formula One testing in Spain on Saturday, fans at the track in Spain reportedly showered Lewis Hamilton with racial epithets.
Reports in a number of papers said the McLaren driver was booed and insulted whenever he made his way from the team motorhome and into the pits on Saturday.

The correspondent from sports daily Marca said that racially charged comments aimed at the black driver were clearly heard and he said that large sections of the crowd was involved.

Not sure of the nationality of the fans but typically during this part of the F1 calendar there’s not a sizable number of foreign fans caravaning abroad attending these team testing events.

Change. Or else.

Hoping to appeal to progressives, liberals, socialists, and whole-grained fascists across America, Hillary Clinton suggests that she would be open to the idea of garnishing the wages of American workers who refuse to buy mandated health insurance

The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC’s “This Week,” she said: “I think there are a number of mechanisms” that are possible, including “going after people’s wages, automatic enrollment.”

Clinton said such measures would apply only to workers who can afford health coverage but refuse to buy it, which puts undue pressure on hospitals and emergency rooms. With her proposals for subsidies, she said, “it will be affordable for everyone.”

This is beyond insane.  Have at it, you Marxist ass-hats.
