If not now, when?

June 30, 2007

UN “experts” ruminate on how to save the world in the upcoming climate wars.

If the UN cannot prevent or alleviate existing forced migrations, how the hell can it realistically transform itself into a situation-ready problem solver?  It was unable to prevent the slaughter of over a million Rwandans in the ’90’s, and it is unable to cope with today’s crisis in Darfur.    And despite already having a mandate to do so, it actually refuses to assist over a million Iraqis who have fled violence in a country where there is already a large American triage force on the ground (larger than any security force the UN could ever muster), most likely because the recent, ever-so-lightly prosecuted oil corruption is much more malignant than we assumed.

Agitprop 2007 - Media reports of 20 beheaded bodies in Iraq false

June 30, 2007

Reuters corrects for a planted story it (and others) should have substantiated in the first place.   Let’s correct it over the weekend!

Also, funny how the original beheading story coincided with the Democrats’ renewed press push to withdraw troops from Iraq.

Just saying. . .

Quick thinking first responder defuses car bomb?

Sky News sources say one of the first police officers on the scene of the Haymarket car bomb may have saved dozens of lives by defusing the explosives before the bomb squad arrived. It is believed the quick-thinking cop recognised that the car was wired to blow up, jumped in and disconnected the trigger device, thought to be a mobile phone.

Sorry for the continued lapse in posting.  I’ve had some personal issues, mostly involving a deflated lung and some cracked ribs.  And a half-painted house.  Once my mojo returns I might be able to snipe a little.  Right now I’m trying really hard just to remain still.

Others could have filled the void had I mastered the dual complexities of spam management and Wordpress upgrades. I’m as lousy at blog maintenance as I am at housepainting, but  I’ll try to resolve these issues soon.

June 19, 2007

The Taliban puts a chill on the renewed immigration debate.  I guess since their vaunted spring offensive didn’t exactly run the infidels out of Kandahar we’re left with this desperate Kamakazi propaganda.

Nevada Senator either is a pure political animal or a tremendous slouch at judging character:

Reid called General Peter Pace “incompetent” and “made similar disparaging remarks about Army Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, said several sources”

Less than six months after he voted to confirm him to the post!

Tolerant Democrats at work

And we’re supposed to somehow trust Democrats to fight Al Qaeda worldwide?  They can’t even stomach Rush Limbaugh and FoxNews on a private radio station.

The spurned Left hisses impishly. . .

A major misstep, critics warn, and the streets again could explode in anger.

While unelected Segolene Royal continues to offer advice nobody asked for:

[Royal] warned Monday of “arrogance” in the president’s camp. She criticized the justice minister for saying voters in the areas where 2005 riots broke out had been “manipulated” into voting for the left, and suggested the conservatives were out of touch with the problems of those neighborhoods.

The Left does not own, tender, or entice any path to growth and prosperity, and France had to choose.

Quiet Riot?

June 5, 2007

Conventional wisdom among the many observers of Barrack Obama is that the senator is a captivating speaker.  How, exactly, I can’t seem to understand why, unless these people are impressed by an low, groaning voice that is intentionally modulated to sound authoritative and decisive.  As for the substance behind the voice, well, there doesn’t seem to be much there either.

Vote for someone like Obama or what? The transformation of pent-up resentment into violence? Resentment that’s symptomatic of a culture of dependency carefully nurtured for decades by politicians much like Obama himself? Sounds more like a threat than a thoughtful campaign position (a la Segolene Royal).

The more Sen. Obama talks, the more he makes even Hillary a viable choice.

Strata has sooo much more on the Litvinenko Polonium-210 poisoning case.  Sooo much more, in fact.

My guess is that despite all the Russian bluster about missile defense shields, new ICBM’s, cyber attacks, and claims of Western “imperialism”, Putin already considers himself at war with so-far unnamed Western adversaries.
