Rider$ on the $torm…

July 29, 2006

Dude, I’m like, so stoked about this potential estate tax cut.  With that extra money, I’ll be able to afford paying Miguel and Jorge this new minimum wage to upkeep the lawn on my vacation home in the Hamptons.  It’s totally a win-win.  Go team bureaucracy!

Chinese Oddity

July 29, 2006

Is it a Chinese deception, a military training scale-model,  or a giant mini-golf facility?

The sludge report…continued

July 28, 2006

And here’s where a small fraction of those record energy profits go…funding the few remaining skeptical climate change scientists. It’s the same old story repeated over and over…industry claims they cause no harm, then industry pays scientists to pick apart research showing their harm, then industry claims that until we are really sure of what exactly is happening it’s best to do nothing (because the fate of the economy is threatened by taking action against their wrongs), finally after years of wasted time and opportunity the weight of the evidence forces industry to change their practices and then SHOCK, the forecasted economic ruin never materializes. Lead in gasoline, DDT, cigarettes, auto emissions regulations, CFC limits…it all follows the same pattern. Right now it’s climate change and carbon dioxide. Who knows what will next?

Let Kerry just run the show for a while

July 28, 2006

Are we still discussing diplomacy from a decade ago (and with the same ol’ assertions).  How boorish. . .

The sludge report…

July 27, 2006

Not sure I have any words to accompany.. I guess I’m left a bit speechless, dumb(founded) and feeling a bit abused. Perhaps it’s time to hire the BP and Exxon CFO’s for govt. work.

Mr Potent

July 27, 2006

A 21-year-old English man has fathered six children by six girlfriends and is about to father a seventh by another woman, according to British press reports.  He’s also, according to the article, slept with 39 women since he was 13.

Cheers.

Just stick it on your head

July 25, 2006

This is one ad you don’t have to watch twice to get the idea:

A woman rubs what appears to be a glue stick across her forehead. The voice-over repeats one sentence in triplicate: “HeadOn: Apply directly to the forehead. HeadOn: Apply directly to the forehead. HeadOn: Apply directly to the forehead.” We cut to an image of the product in its packaging, while the voice-over tells us that “HeadOn is available without a prescription at retailers nationwide.”

A beautifully simple, throwback ad for a product with many, many uses.

Hizbullahniks

July 22, 2006

What pro-Hizbullah Israeli Arabs have been called in Tel Aviv.

Crystal powered car

July 21, 2006

A sexy electric car that I wouldn’t mind plugging in.

Dust in the air

July 19, 2006

For what it’s worth, another stab at a change agent of the earth’s climate.  A couple of scientists argue that local effects have a greater impact on regional climate than previously assumed.

Get us OUT!

July 18, 2006

According to a some MSM outlets, the US Government’s response to evacuating American citizens from Lebanon is on par with the Katrina response.

A Persian Wag the Dog

July 16, 2006

The multi-front Israeli-Arab war is still raging ferociously.  But it is a controlled burn designed to let the hands of the Iranians and their proxies be forced into an uncompromising situation.

Iraq from the inside

July 16, 2006

Damn the mainstream media! They only want to talk about the bad things happening in Iraq?  Just look at what the Iraqis are saying.

Target may leave city over big-box proposal.

Olbermann leads with John Dean

July 13, 2006

MSNBC’s ratings seem to have nowhere to go but up. But how can Kenny get ‘em there leading his segment with JOHN DEAN?  At least Lawrence O’Donnell concedes that the Plame lawsuit doesn’t (outwardly) have a snowball’s chance in hell.

Michael Totten, where are you?

July 13, 2006

Can’t seem to find anything recent from the go-to guy on matters Lebanese.  Here is one of his forboding summaries.

Interesting, though, is the near simultaneous occurence of the Mumbai bombings and the Hamas and Hezbollah activity.

Be still my babies. . .

July 10, 2006

I’m back. I’m mad as hell, and I’m not gonna take it anymore! Actually, I’m just back, and only a little relaxed after a week at the beach.

However, I’m glad to see some intial judicial guidance on Rep. William “Freezer Burn” Jefferson. Finally, a court decision that actually mirrors public opinion!
I missed most of the North Korea showdown last week, but from the tidbits I did catch I couldn’t tell whether most of the news coverage was just propagating the Korean bluster or actual *BIG NEWS*. I’m certain we knew about the tests long in advance. I don’t think anybody in the MSM has a clue on what the hell is going on there, and can only hope that we’ve got some good non-war happening behind the scenes.

And NYT’s Bill Keller, a week later, is still trying to justify his paper’s role as a fourth branch of government. It’s still unclear how the NYT’s decision to publish sensitive information will hamper America’s success in the long term War on Terror, but how can it help?

Cheney’s legal guru wipes ass with Constitution, often

July 8, 2006

David Addington, by most accounts, is the sole architect of the Bush Admin.’s position on Executive power, specifically the limitlessness of it.  He strongly advocates the President’s right to suspend due process, ignore the 4th Amendment, torture, and sodomize puppies, if he (the Prez) feels it necessary in defense of the Nation.

The Bottom-est of the Barrel

July 7, 2006

When you can’t get future warmongering politicians (Cheney) or future warmongering pundits (Limbaugh) to join the military, scrape a little deeper (slightly), and go for the white supremacists.

Terrorists Rejoice!

July 4, 2006

Your numbers are about to swell!

A few shitbag GI’s (I’m ashamed to say are from my old unit) probably just created more terrorists with one despicable act than the entire US military has killed or captured in the all the years following 9/11.

If the US is smart and if these guys are proven guilty then they’ll let the Iraqi people stone these rapists/murderers to death in the streets of Iraq.
