May Day Miscalc
April 28, 2006
What started as a belated (but bipartisan) attempt to resolve some decades-old questions about domestic immigration policy has devolved — with the help of massive international coordination– into a debate on immigrant’s human rights! How twisted has this argument become? So much that the current media dialogue seems focused on what immigrant-friendly groups are going to do next to influence American policy. Isn’t this a little backwards?
The planned May Day demonstrations and boycotts are huge political miscalculations and will only exhaust the little goodwill that most Americans have left.
